Points allocation in pool stage
Four points are awarded for a win.
Two points are awarded for a draw.
A try bonus point is awarded to teams that score four or more tries in a match.
A losing bonus point is awarded to teams that lose a match by fewer than eight points.
Tie-breaking criteria for pool play
The ranking of tied teams in the pool stage is determined as follows:[citation needed]
