Bigfoot: The Life and Times of a Legend is a non-fiction book written by Joshua Blu Buhs and published by the University of Chicago Press (2009).[1] The book explores the history of Bigfoot, the exploits of its believers, as well as hoaxers, and the cultural influences that, according to Buhs, give the legend staying power.[2][3]
About the author
[edit]Buhs is an American scholar and writer.[1][4] He earned a PhD in the history and sociology of science[5] from the University of Pennsylvania.[6] Though skeptical about the existence of Bigfoot, he was initially interested in how the legend might reflect America's views of and relationship with nature. "Here was a creature...that embodied various ideas about the natural world...but didn't exist."[7] His goal in writing the book was to document the complexities of Bigfoot's origins.
