Hamburg bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics In March 2015, the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) decided to send Hamburg in the race for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games. In the national selection procedure, the DOSB had the choice between the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the German capital Berlin. Due to the convincing Olympia concept and the higher level of approval among the population of Hamburg, the DOSB decided against Berlin. Hamburg is pursuing the concept of "games in the heart of the city".
