Kate Cooper is a scholar and historian of antiquity whose work focuses on women, families, and religion in the ancient world. She is a Professor of Ancient History in the department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Manchester since 2009. Previous to her professorship, Cooper was first lecturer (1995–2000) and then senior lecturer (2000-2009) at the University of Manchester. From 1992–1994 Cooper was Assistant Professor in the Religion Department at Barnard College, Columbia University. Since 1996 Cooper has also served as the director for the Centre of Late Antiquity at the University of Manchester.
Cooper holds a Ph.D. and a M.A. from Princeton University (1993) and a M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School.
