Erick Ouma Otieno (born 27 September 1996 in Kisumu) nicknamed Marcelo is a Kenyan footballer who currently plays for Gor Mahia in the Kenyan Premier League as a left-back/winger. ... Youth years My football journey started while in primary school at Ayany Primary, Kibera. I featured in the Future Stars Academy’s U10, U15 and U17 categories. I later joined Kakamega High School in 2012 and played for the school team in the secondary school ball games winning the 2014 national football title. Early career In January 2013 while studying at Kakamega High, he joined the school team named Green Commandoes and represented it in the Nationwide league. He was played in a number of positions including striker, left and right wing. Playing against different teams across the country helped him adapt to various styles and tactical approach quickly until when he left the school in November 2015 after completing his O-level studies to sign directly for Gor Mahia. Gor Mahia On December 30, 2015, Ouma signed a six month contract with Gor Mahia. During his time at the club, he was mostly preferred as a left-back and at times as an offensive left winger floating in crosses for the strikers. His memorable moment, he says, was when he came on in the second half to provide the cross that resulted into the lone goal that won the club the Red Sea Festival & Tourism Tournament in the final against Sudanese giants Al Hilal on 21st January, 2016 at Port Sudan Stadium. International career He made his debut for the national senior team on 31 May, 2016 in a friendly against Sudan. His second cap for the senior team came on 5 June, 2016 in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Group E qualifier against Congo Brazzaville at MISC Kasarani. Prior to playing for the senior team, he had featured for the Kenya national team Under-20 on Sunday 3 April, 2016 at Al Merreikh Stadium in the first leg qualifier of the 2017 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
