Background
[edit]John Spershott's immediate family members were all born in Mid Lavant. His parents were John Spershott, a miller,[nb 1] and Susanna "Susan" Bealer, of Mid Lavant, Sussex.[1][nb 2]
John Spershott was baptised on 22 December 1816, at Mid Lavant,..[1] He had five siblings: George, Mary Ann, Caplin, Maria and Charlotte.[nb 3]
Sparshott was literate.[2]
Crime
[edit]Sparshott was accused of, indicted for, and condemned for, sodomy.[2]
