Suood & Anwar LLP is a law firm based in Male’ Maldives.
Suood & Anwar LLP is regarded to be one of the Maldives elite law firms, advising national and multinational corporations, financial institutions, government agencies and various local and international organizations. Since its inception in 1994, it has grown to be one of the few law firms in the Maldives that has highly specialized expertise in multiple areas of law.
History[edit]
Suood & Anwar LLP, was established in 1994 by two prominent Maldivian lawyers, Mr. Ahmed Muizzu and Mr. Husnu Al-Suood. The firm was initially named as Hasankaari Chambers until it was registered under the Partnership Act in 2003 and named as Muizzu, Suood & Co. The firm’s name was again changed in 2008, to Suood Anwar & Co., when Mr. Ahmed Muizzu left the firm to become the country’s first independent prosecutor general in 2008. The partnership has been re-registered with its present name Suood & Anwar LLP, as a limited liability partnership in July 2012. One of the firm’s founding partners Mr. Husnu Al Suood briefly left the firm in 2009 to serve as the Attorney General of the Maldives. Mr. Suood returned to the firm in 2011.
