The Alley Cat ([French]: Le Matou) is the English translation of a novel by Québécois author Yves Beauchemin. Originally published in 1981, the novel was adapted by Jean Beaudin into a film and mini-series Le Matou in 1985. Also in 1986 the book was translated into English in 1986 by Sheila Fischman for McClelland & Stewart (now a part of Penguin Random House).[1] The book was printed in the United States Henry Holt. A New Canadian Library version was later published in 1994 with an afterward by Kenneth Ratu. This edition had a reissue in 2008.[2]
