A'lamar Ohan Dillard (August 23, 1978 – September 8, 1996), known under his stagename A'D later Lamar, was an American rapper and songwriter. He is considered as the first influential teenage rapper. Much of Dillard's songs are based on gangviolence and social issues.
He was born in New York City, to an African American mother and a Jamaican father, he was raised by his mother because his father was never there, what he would he say in an interview. He moved to California in 1986 where he began rapping. he released his debut album "Westside" in 1993, he became a figure in gangsta rap for his lyrics and rhymes. Dillard achieved more success in his following albums and singles. His most successful single is "Eastside hate and love", where he indirectly disses The Notorious B.I.G.
Later in his music career, Dillard would have an argument where he would get stabbed 3 times in front of his high school and experienced his first enemies, the Crips, he signed to Interscope Records. he became a little involved in the growing East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry. On September 4, Dillard released his last song which went diamond. On September 8, one day after 2Pac got shot; Lamar was fatally shot by an unidentified assailant on a parking lot in Los Angeles with a friend of him; He died from a gunshot wound to the head. The Crips were instantly considered to be responsible for Lamar's death.

Dillard was born in Brooklyn, New York City. to an African American mother and a Jamaican father, Lamar had one sister, his father was never there, so he was raised by his mother. He and his family moved to California in 1986, Dillard wasn't a gang banger, but still he had a bit of trouble in school, so he started rapping to get away from the stress which was a good idea, Lamar never finished school because in 1996. His early life was not like many other teenager, he was often at home, just rapping and rapping.

Dillard started rapping 1993 as A'D, it didn't take long to get him signed into Interscope Records, the founders said: that he had the skills. He released his debut album "Westside" which went diamond, he became a figure in gangsta rap and hip hop for his rap style. Later in 1994, A'lamar changed his name from A'D to Lamar, because he thought that it didn't sound good, achieved more and more success in his following albums and singles. His most successful single is "Eastside hate and love", where he indirectly disses The Notorious B.I.G. many from the east coast took that as an insult and many gangs tried to hunt Lamar down. He became a little involved in the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry.

High school stabbing[edit]
On January 25, 1995, Lamar had an argument in front of his school with a hater who was a Crip, he said that the diss was an "asshole" move, he than began to stab Lamar 3 times but got stopped by other students. The student got expelled and Lamar made a song about it.
3 stabs couldn't drop me[edit]
Dillard's single "3 stabs" was a response to the kid who stabbed him, gangs just wanted him and capture him but they didn't knew where he was. After this line: "3 stabs couldn't drop me" were they more angry. They looked at every line to find out where he is and where he goes to school.
Gang issues[edit]
Dillard was never in a gang and so he had never a problem with other gangs, but after many songs like "Eastside hate and love" crips and bloods started hating him and he was very young so they really had no fear from Lamar. Lamar had no fear at the beginning, so he rapped disrespectful lines in 2 songs, he didn't know that it was serious so he started to be a little scared on the streets.
Personal Life[edit]
Lamar said in an interview that he is now in a point where has many enemies. He told that he's not going to school because he scared of getting shot, he needed a little pause of rapping. He said many like how things changed how many friends he lost because of jealousness.
1994, He met a girl on a party called Carolina (her lastname is not known) they planned to have kids but after events, he had no time for his family.
Last song[edit]
Lamar's last song before his death was "The Hunt". Where he made many mistakes of where he goes to school and many insults against the crips, the east coast and the bloods.
Death[edit]
On September 8, 1996 one day after Tupac Shakur got shot. Lamar had fear that some gangmembers are going to kill him so he walked with a friend, around 2:15 p.m,they walked to parking lot and saw a guy who owed him money, he went up to him and screamed: "niggeh you remember me and the money!" The guy responded with "I got something different", "deez nuts!" then suddenly an unknown assailant exited out of a car and started shooting at them, Lamar was the target, he hit Lamar multiple times, including a shot to the head, his friend was hit 2 times and survived. They guy who owed Lamar money said that he wasn't part of the killing.
Lamar was cremated.
Legacy[edit]
Lamar will be remembered as the first influential teenage rapper. He is the sign how brutal gang-violence really is.
