Freudenfreude is a variation of the term Schadenfreude. While Schadenfreude denotes taking pleasure in others' suffering, Freudenfreude refers to joy in response to others' joy.

Freudenfreude seems to enhance interpersonal relationships. Research has suggested that low freudenfreude may contribute to depression, perhaps by compromising social support.[1]
