Dial Before You Dig[edit]

Dial Before You Dig is an Australian not-for-profit initiative[1] to reduce damage to underground assets for major and minor service providers such as Telstra, Optus, Western Australia Water Corporation and many others.

History[edit]

Founded in 1999 the Australian Association Of Dial Before You Dig Services Ltd (AADBYDS Ltd) was established for the consistent nationwide protection of underground services. In recent years (2008) the DBYD service has transferred from a completely free service to a predominantly free service[2] that may charge for requests such as Multi-kilometre jobs, conveyancing & areas where significant work is required to produce plans.

Plans[edit]

Dial Before You Dig's members attempt to get all plans sent within fourty eight hours of request. Plans may be sent via Fax, Email or Post. Email plans come in either PDF, various standard image formats such as PNG or JPG or as CAD files such as DWF or DXF.
