Swiss outfit Scorace Team will make their Formula Renault Northern European Cup debut in 2018 after announcing their plans to enter the series with Lotus Cup Europe racer Sharon Scolari. The 23-year old impressed in the premier category of Lotus racing on the continent last season, taking nine victories in the Open category and narrowly missing out on the title at the Le Mans finale.

Nevertheless, a hat-trick of victories at Paul Ricard and further clean sweeps at Brands Hatch and the Nurburgring – at which she set a new lap record for the category – have marked her out as one of Switzerland's brightest emerging talents. She will look to emulate compatriot Sebastien Buemi in using the NEC's established platform to further her ambition of forging a career in professional motorsport.

Scolari also has three years of experience in the highly-competitive Legends category for 5/8 scale racing machines based on pre-war Dodge, Ford and Chevrolet models, taking the Rookie title in 2013 in the Italian series. A stint in the Lotus Cup Italia preceeded her move to European competition, giving her a broad range of experience to draw upon in her debut campaign of single-seater competition.
