CampusEAI Consortium

CampusEAI Consortium is an international not-for-profit information technology services and consulting company headquartered in downtown Cleveland, Ohio[1]. The company is best known for myCampus [2], an enterprise portal [[3]]and web content management solution for K-12[[4]]and higher education institutions. As of June 2010, myCampus is being used at more than 250 institutions in over 10 countries, including the United States [5], Canada [6], Australia[7], and the United Kingdom [8].

CampusEAI Consortium was founded [9] by 14 institutions in 2003 in response to increasing IT budget cuts, resource constraints, and the needs of incoming internet-savvy students. Among the founding universities are the University of Montana [10];the University of Nevada, Las Vegas [11]]; and Oklahoma State University[12] .

CampusEAI Consortium employs more than 120 full-time staff and has facilities in both the United States and India [23]. The corporate headquarters of CampusEAI Consortium are located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, and the organization's second U.S. office is located in Newark, New Jersey. The CampusEAI India offices are located in Guragon.

Executive Advisory Committee

The CampusEAI Consortium Executive Advisory Committee [25] guides the Consortium’s Executive Director, Board and Leadership Team in prioritizing the strategic initiatives of the community.


Responsibilities of the Executive Committee:

• Provide guidance to the Consortium’s Executive Director

• Provide guidance to the Consortium’s committees and task forces

• Oversee and endorse all formal written Consortium position papers and/or recommendations

• Represent the Consortium at professional, university and federal forums

• Interact on behalf of the Consortium with external groups such as Educause and Internet2

Philanthropy

Since its founding in 2003, CampusEAI Consortium has provided information technology grants to higher education institutions and public sector agencies through its Campus Portal Grant Program [26] . The CampusEAI Grant Program is designed for institutions seeking to implement an internet/intranet Portal. Recipients of the Grant will receive substantial financial and organizational assistance in integrating a portal into existing systems and protocols for online and distance education, SIS software and administrative computing, school and organization web properties, student-based web publishing, wireless and e-commerce initiatives.

In February 2010, the CampusEAI Grant Program was featured as part of the White House Initiative [32] on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The initiative was established in 1980 by President Jimmy Carter as a federal program to help historically black colleges and universities [[33]] overcome the effects of discriminatory treatment and provide quality education. The program exists today to help strengthen the capacity of historically black colleges and universities to provide excellence in education.
