25.05.2022 Water Purification

Alkaline Water has been claimed to be good for health by controlling body acidity.[8][9] Some Water Purifier claim to provide Alkaline Water as output of their filtration unit.[10]

Most of the people blindly use RO Water Purifier for purification of water. However RO Water Purifier is not required when TDS in water is less than 300 ppm.[11].

NGT has directed the Government of India to prohibit use of RO Purifiers where total dissolved solids ( TDS) in water are below 500 mg per liter and sensitize public about the ill effects of demineralized water.[12].[13] However, Supreme Court of India has stayed NGT ban order subsequently .[14]

Due to non clarity on the issue various myths and facts are i circulation on this issue of using water treated by RO method. [15]
