Hailing from Newark, New Jersey but evolving in Kinston, North Carolina from the age of 4, Deme was raised by his grandparents. Dealing with separation from his parents, who were too young to raise a child at the time, and learning how to deal with the obstacles of having cerebral palsy, music became a coping method. Being that his grandparents were strict and church bound so faithfully, the music that was so heavily in rotation would lead to what would soon become his passion. Deme would find himself hanging around his uncles and aunts who were also into music by performing their spoken word pieces and original rap music. These influences led him to listening to the likes of Jay-Z, 2 Pac, Nas, Eminem, and Biggie. With these men of Hip-Hop on repeat, Deme began to write his own rhythms at the age of 7. However some challenges came to, that would hinder him from furthering his passion at that time. Due to having cerebral palsy school officials insisted on placing him in classes that weren’t suitable for him. He proved to everyone, even his family that he was more than capable of completing and learning the assignments given to him. Exceling in everything academically his focus remained on his books feeling that he needed to show the doubters that just because he had CP that he was still unstoppable in all that he did. In high school his passion slowly but surely began to show again. Classmates and friends would encourage him to be apart of rap battles, cyphers and even talent shows held at school. In college he became more sociable, seeking opportunities where he could expose his talent that few knew about. At this time the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma, Inc. took Deme under their wing. He would attend shows and other functions that would later be where he would find himself performing which led to more recognition in public. He became more socially in sync with his surroundings and joined this prestigious fraternity shortly thereafter. During this time school was still the main focus in which he finished early and graduated. Perplexed on whether to go to medical school and pursuing his music, Deme has chosen music. With the support from his family, friends, all those listening ears and his team D.E.M.E (The Dude Every MC Envies), Deme is gearing up to continue to work on his music and pushing out hits, making appearances and gaining more plays on the web.
