Window Business (band)
[edit]Window Business is an American rock band from the Pacific Northwest. Formed in 2017 by William Stafford, the band's sole songwriter and lead vocalist, and supported by many regular collaborators such as engineer and multi-instrumentalist Tim Karplus, drummer Mark Powers, and bassist Age Patterson. The band has been noted for Stafford's mordant and literary style of song writing[1], and their wide-ranging musical influences, including jazz, country music, rock, americana, and hip hop.
After compiling the first two records, the band headlined at the Covellite International Film Festival in 2018 on tour supporting the upcoming album "Before the War", later recorded at Yellow Room Studios in Portland. With most events cancelled or postponed during 2020 and 2021 for the COVID-19 pandemic, Stafford wrote "the sixes" (Six Songs Together and 6 Apart), two EP's that server as sister pieces outlining the duality of pain and comfort we get from being together as well as being separated. Window Business contributed five original songs to the motion picture, The Year of the Dog (2022), and the talents of Karplus as a composer[2].
