Tina Cancio (from Chicago) is the founder of balance salon spa[1]and LGL Leukemia Advocate[2] for the LGL Leukemia Foundation[3], a non-profit organization. Diagnosed with a very rare cancer, Tina, felt a deep and longing connection to make it her life long mission, to create an advocacy page and the first ever created, Large Granular Lymphocytic Leukemia (LGLL) Foundation to bring awareness, resources, tools and donations to increase LGL Leukemia research.

[edit]Cancio grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Her mother worked as a hairdresser during her youth. Her mother had a home salon where, Tina, was able to learn all of the aspects of Cosmetology. Tina was always very interested in being an independent business owner, although she spent over 20 years in the food and beverage industry. She graduated from Roosevelt University with dual degrees in Macro-Sociology and Psychology.
Career
[edit]In 2000, Cancio moved to Tampa, Florida and held successful positions in sales and management for the food and beverage industry, with nationally recognized companies.
In 2008, she founded balance salon spa (an Aveda exclusive salon spa), along with her husband, Carlos Cancio.
In 2009, Cancio was inducted into the Cambridge Who's Who [4]executive, professional and entrepreneurial registry.
In 2010, Cancio was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia bone marrow failure disease, a very rare blood disorder at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. She also partnered with Moffitt News media at Moffitt Cancer Center, by filming a video[5] to create awareness for LGLL and Medicaid. She then became a silent partner at balance salon spa, due to her chronic incurable cancer.
In early 2011, Cancio's 2009 wedding was featured by Nordstrom Real Weddings story[6] for their Tampa, Florida nuptials.
In 2011, Cancio was diagnosed with T-cell Large granular lymphocytic leukemia (LGLL), a very rare blood cancer at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. It was at this point, she decided to share her cancer journey and help those affected by the disease.
In 2014, she founded the first ever created, Large granular lymphocytic leukemia (LGLL) foundation, as a resource guide for newly and existing diagnosed patients and their families.
Tina Cancio serves as a member of the Working Women of Tampa Bay[7], the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce[8] and works with Martini's for Moffitt[9] annually to support Moffitt Cancer Center cancer initiatives.
