Namgem Diamond Manufacturing Company (Pty)Ltd[edit]

Namgem is a diamond polishing company which is situated in the garden town of Okahandja. Okahandja is located in Otjozondjupa region Namibia. Namgem is fully owned by Namibian diamond mining company called Namdeb.Namgem was opened by His Excellency Dr. Sam Nujoma on the 12 of August 1998. NamGem has more than 120 employees. Which consist of the Management, Supervisors, Diamond Staff (Diamond operators and Diamond Handlers), Non-diamond staff (Cleaners and Workshop personal).[1] In 2003 Namgem entered into partnership with Lazare Kaplan International (LKI) to enhance the company. The President of LKI said "Our continuing investments reflect our strong belief in the prospects of Namgem as a modern diamond cutting and polishing enterprise and with the participation of OPIC those prospects of Namgem as a modern."(Templesman,2006)[2]

NamGem gives Donation to Five Rand School[edit]

In July 18 2011, Namgem donated more than N$30000 and a laptop to the Five Rand School. This school is sitauted in Five rand, which is a informal settlement in the southern part side of Okahandja.[3]

Diamonds worth N$19,2 goes missing[edit]

On the 6th of September 2010 employees noticed that Diamonds worth close to N$19,2 million were stolen from the Namgem factory in Okahandja. This incident was the largest theft incident Namgem has so far experienced.[4]
