The National ENQUIRER previously shared an exclusive preview of the book I'm Sorry I Lied to You: The Confession of Scott Peterson by author Donna Thomas, who visited Peterson several times in California's notorious San Quentin prison. She said he confessed how he strangled Laci as she watched Martha Stewart on TV.
"I took my arm and put it around her neck," Thomas said Peterson told her. "I used my right hand to cover her mouth. She fought hard, but it was nothing for me."[12]
True crime author Donna Thomas will talk about her new book, “I’m Sorry I Lied to You: The Confession of Scott Peterson,” at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Assembly Room of the A.K. Smiley Public Library, 125 W. Vine St., Redlands.
“I’m Sorry I Lied to You” follows the story of the disappearance of pregnant Laci Peterson in 2002, the discovery of her body and that of her unborn child in the San Francisco Bay months later and the trial of her husband, Scott Peterson.
It was a third ex-mistress who would manage to get a first confession out of Peterson, at least, according to her book. In 2007, Donna Thomas released I'm Sorry I Lied to You: The Confession of Scott Peterson, explaining exactly how she gained the convicted killer's trust during visits to San Quentin. Thomas (who claims to have been involved with Peterson on-and-off for 14 years) claims that he told her how he strangled his wife, fixed cement weights to her body and drove it to Berkeley Marina. He then apparently admitted to casting off and reading Playboy magazine for half an hour before dumping Laci's corpse overboard, nearly capsizing his boat in the process.[14]
Thomas will also sign copies of the book. A portion of the proceeds from books sold at the event will benefit the A.K. Smiley Public Library.[15]
