In 2023, American singer/rapper Lizzo was accused by her backup dancers of sexual harassment, body shaming and creating a toxic work environment. In 2021, Dr. Seuss and his books were dropped from the annual 'Read Across America' event due to drawings and cartoons in the midst of World War II that are now seen as anti-Asian racism. This led to backlash from the public, as #cancelbalenciaga became trending across multiple social medias. Many also boycotted Balenciaga, which led them to publicly apologize as well as partner up with the National Children's Alliance(NCA).[6]
