Steve Tappin (born Harrogate 5 September 1966) is a business writer and consultant. Author of The Secrets of CEOs, Steve is a Managing Partner in the CEO & Board Practice at Heidrick & Struggles.

Early Career[edit]

Steve's early career was spent at ICI. He later became a partner at international consulting firms KMPG and PA Consulting. On leaving PA Consulting, he founded edengene, a growth and corporate venturing consulting firm. Under Steve's leadership edengene won "Best Small Firm" and the "Gold Medal award for client work" from the UK's Management Consultancies Association.Steve then founded a coaching business targeting FTSE 100 executives, Leaders Reloaded.[1] Steve was mentored by Sir John Harvey-Jones.[2]

Current Focus[edit]

At Heidrick & Struggles, Steve now wants "to bring together the best of search and the best of management consultancy.”[3]

The Secrets of CEOs[edit]

Steve has written a book with Andy Cave, a journalist with The Daily Telegraph. The book launches 10 September 2008. The book is based on interviews with 150 global CEOs including John Browne, Baron Browne of Madingley, Ben Verwaayen, Michael Dell, Narayana Murthy, Liu Jiren, Sir Martin Sorrell and Caterina Fake. Richard Branson has written the foreword.[4]
