From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) is a centre at Oxford University that promotes effective altruism.[1] The organisations Giving What We Can and 80000 Hours are both part of the CEA.[1][2][3]Two other organisations, The Life You Can Save (named after an eponymous book by Peter Singer) and Animal Charity Evaluators, started out as part of CEA but are now independent.[1] CEA is also affiliated with, and works in adjacent offices to, the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University.[1] CEA also runs the Effective Altruism blog, a canonical source of information about effective altruism where posters include people from GiveWell, Giving What We Can, the Future of Humanity Institute, Machine Intelligence Research Institute, and others involved in effective altruism as donors or researchers.[4]
