Merrionette Park Fire Department (MPFD) On May 23 1949 an ordinance was adopted in the village municipal code that created a village government that will be known as the Fire Department. 24 members started the Fire Department and all lived between 113th and 115th streets and Kedzie Ave. and Whipple Ave. The first fire Station was located at 3033 W. 114th Pl. and the first fire trucks were a used 1937 white truck with a general body built on it and a 1924 or 25 AHRENS-FOX fire engine purchased from the Berwyn Fire Department.
The current Fire Department has 33 members, all are PAID ON CALL.
The current firehouse is now located at 3165 W. 115th St., which now houses One Engine, One 106 Ft. Ladder Truck, One Ford Expedition response vehicle, and One BLS Ambulance.
Merrionette Park is Bordered by Chicago, Alsip, and Garden Homes.
Merrionette Park Fire Department is a current member of M.A.B.A.S. 22[1]
