Alyona Vladimirovna Mordovina (Russian: Алена Владимировна Мордовина; born 27 October 1987) is a Russian stage and film actress.[1]

Biography[edit]

Alyona Mordovina was born in Tashkent, USSR (now Uzbekistan). During her adolescent years, she was a keen athlete and took part in Track and Field Athletics, including Pole Vault and also became a Master of Sport in Water Polo after she played in the National Team.

Acting Career[edit]

Alyona later moved to Moscow to study drama at Russian Institute of Theater Arts - GITIS from where she graduated in 2012. She then joined the Moscow New Drama Theatre and appeared in several productions. Since 2012, she has also appeared in numerous Television and Film roles, including several recurring roles, on television. [2]

Whilst continuing to pursue her acting career Alyona Mordovina continued her studies and in 2018, she graduated from Moscow State University with a Masters Degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Spaceflight Career[edit]

In late 2020, she was one of three thousand actresses and performers who applied to participate on the project ''Challenge'' (Vyzov) organised by the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos and the Moscow based TV channel Channel One Russia which aimed to select an actress who would be sent into space in October 2021, to particpate in the filming of the first feature film to be shot in Space.

In March 2021, Alyona Mordovina was one of twenty candidates selected, from the three thousand, to undergo detailed medical, physical and psychological tests at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, and in May 2021 she was selected as member of the back-up crew of Soyuz MS-19, and as theatrical understudy to Yulia Peresild' [3]

The Director of the film, Klim Shipenko, Yulia Peresild, and professional cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov were included in the ISS Expedition 66 prime crew, whilst Mordovina, and the movie's Director of Cinematagraphy Alexsey Dudin and experienced cosmonaut Oleg Artemeyev formed the back-up crew.[4]

A final decision on which crew will make the Spaceflight, and participate in the ''Challenge'' (Vyzov) will be made in mid-September 2021. [5]

Personal life[edit]

Although Alyona Mordovina reveals little about her personal life, she mentioned that she is married, in an interview in October 2020. [6]
