Alphens Davis was a Methodist circuit rider.
Davis was born 11th December, 1793, in Paris, New York. Around 1806, he moved with his parents to Rodman, New York.[1]
In 1814, Davis began preaching in Rodman. In 1815, he served as an assistant to the President elder of the Cayuga circuit. In 1816, he was received on trial as a circuit rider, and assigned to the Northumberland circuit. In 1817, he was assigned to the Clarence circuit.[2]
In 1818, Davis was assigned to the Detroit circuit. Soon after his appointment commenced, he was reassigned to the Ancaster circuit, and Samuel Belton, was riding the Ancaster circuit, was assigned to Detroit.[3] In 1819, he was assigned to Herkimer, New York. In 1820, he was superannuated.[4] He died 8th October, 1820, of consumption.[5]
