Formation and Party EP
[edit]Trujillo and Borstorff met in 2011 while Borstorff was part of a band known as Collipso Columbine and Trujillo's previous band Your Fatal Desire had just gone on indefinite hiatus. The two began writing during the fall of 2012 experimenting with hip-hop and electronic sound and their debut "Party" EP was released on Feb 3, 2013 with physical and digital special editions.
Borstorff's Departure and Testing the Waters of Sanity
[edit]In August of 2013 Borstorff left the group to explore other opportunities, leaving Trujillo as the sole member of the group. Trujillo began writing and recording new material in the spring, leaving behind the rap vocals of their previous EP for a more EDM sound. Working closely with producer Aaron Frank, Kamenahamena embraced the new sound and "Testing the Waters of Sanity" was released in December of 2013.

The group collaborated with bassist Micheal Boal on two of the tracks on the album. "Sonic Psychosis" was released in August 2014. In September 2014 Trujillo relocated to Erie, Pennsylvania, leading the group into an indefinte hiatus
