Biography

[edit]

Alfredo Vignale was born on June 15, 1913 in Grugliasco, Italy.[2] In 1924, he left school and started working as an apprentice panel-beater.

In 1930, he joined Stabilimenti Farina.[3]

In 1935, Vignale started his military service and was assigned to the medical corps of a military hospital in Rome.

He worked for Battista Farina until 1948 when he founded his design house Carrozzeria Vignale.[4]

He passed away in Turin on November 16, 1969, due to a traffic accident. At the time of his death, he had received an offer from the Italo-Argentine industrialist Alejandro De Tomaso to acquire his company, which was finalized a few weeks after his death. Finally, his firm was transferred in 1973 to the Ford Motor Company, who decided to end its operations in 1974.
