Yuriy Koblents-Mishke, or simply Yura.

I was born and grew up in Leningrad, Russia, then moved to Moscow and lived there for many years. Since 1996 I live in Connecticut.

I am a financial and scientific programmer, current in C++, C, and Python. Previously I coded in Perl, Matlab, Fortran, Pascal, Basic, PL/1, Cobol, Algol 60, and several assembly languages.

My first education is in Mathematics. I was lucky to study at the Leningrad University, where I specialized in differential geometry and topology and differential operators on manifolds. After graduating I studied game theory. I do not work as a professional mathematician since 1977, but I developed numerical methods and discrete algorithms when it was needed, or sometimes just for fun.

My second education is in Economics with a specialization in mathematical methods. I worked for years as a mathematician, as a programmer, and as an economist at the Central Economic Mathematical Institute (CEMI) of Russian Academy of Sciences [1], first in Leningrad and later in Moscow. My experience in economics mostly concerns modeling of consumption (a subject of my dissertation), technological change/diffusion of innovations, and transient processes.
