[edit]Hi ذو سواد ملكي مكروبي بنطي. Thanks for your edits to the Somalis article. However, I thought that Sooma the Somali word for the Somali language, and that Soomaaliyeed was the Somali word for Somali people. Have I misunderstood? Cordless Larry (talk) 18:23, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- Good evening Mr.Cordless Larry. Thank you for your attention. ِAnd yes there is a misunderstood, Soomaali is the Somali word for the Somali language, and also it is the Somali word for Somali people but The difference lies in the sound and tone. Ill give you an example : The word "inan" means boy and girl and is used for both, The difference lies in the sound and tone. When one wants to say 'boy' it sounds like /innaan/ , but it is spelled the same as 'girl' : 'inan', This can be applied to 'weyl', meaning a female cow in contrast to 'weyl', a male cow.--ذو سواد ملكي مكروبي بنطي (talk) 19:02, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. So, what does Soomaaliyeed mean, in that case? I note that the Somali-language Wikipedia uses that for the article on Somali people - see So:Dadka Soomaaliyeed. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:04, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- Well, its been translated literally from the former name of the English-language Wikipedia article Somali people, but "Somalis" means "Soomaali", and ill work on the So:Dadka Soomaaliyeed article in the Somali-language Wikipedia since the english article been moved to "Somalis". and thanks for reminding me bout that . --ذو سواد ملكي مكروبي بنطي (talk) 20:02, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. If that's the case, then you might want to check some other language versions of Wikipedia too, such as ar:صوماليون, which uses Soomaaliyeed as a translation. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:07, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
