"Four separate motorway sections" means the four blue sections on the map (which shows four blue sections and five green sections).  Dr Greg  talk  11:30, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

Indeed, as Dr Greg said. I can't really understand where you are getting your concept of "2" from as the "4" is all over the article. Maybe please have a look at the quite useful table in the Overview section at A1(M) motorway#Overview which, like the map, lays it out quite clearly.
