Difference between Pushpaka and Nambeesan

[edit]
Your edits in Pushpaka cannot be retained as this this article is about Pushpaka caste (i.e. the caste having surname Unni or Nambi), not about Nambeesans. In the Pushpaka (Unni) caste, it is the groom who ties the mangalyasutra, not the bride's father. They never had such a practice of tying mangalyasutra by bride's father. If they are doing it recently, it is simply an imitation of Namboothiri customs. It is not their actual custom. In the case of Nambeesans, if the bride's father is tying the mangalyasutra, that may be mentioned in the article Nambeesan. Sometimes the Nambeesan caste is also referred to as Pushpakas, but Nambeesans never indicate their caste name in any records as Pushpaka. The people of Pushpaka caste generally have surnames Unni or Nambi for males and Amma or Devi for females. It is the people with surname Unni or Nambi are indicating their caste name as Pushpaka in records, not by the people with surname Nambeesan. In the case of Nambeesans, the female surname is Brahmani.--Hariombhargav (talk) 17:01, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
