December 2023[edit]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Jack Chick, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Please refer specifically to WP:CATV as article categories must be verifiable in the article's content. Also, do not add categories that are not a defining characteristic of the article (WP:CATDEF) as we use categories as hierarchial trees, not meta tags. BLP articles, lead content, and sources[edit]

Thank you for your recent edits. However, it is important that you understand we have guidelines for our articles - especially when it is a biography of a living person. BLPs have additional guidelines that must be followed. One of those guidelines is that all content must have a verifieable source - and that needs to meet the requirements of a reliable source (WP:RS). In addition, the lead is meant to summarize what is in the article. If it's not in the article, it shouldn't be in the lead; and if it doesn't have a reliable cited source, it shouldn't be in the article. A recent example is this edit: [1] It's not covered in the article AND it doesn't have a cited source (which is why it was reverted). I'm assuming your edits are in good faith. However, this has been pointed out to you already (see above). Please make sure you're following appropriate guidelines. Thank you. ButlerBlog (talk) 15:47, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As for those categories--I see that all of them have been reverted, two by me since they weren't borne out by article content. Not explaining what you're doing doesn't help either. Drmies (talk) 21:48, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
