British participation at Utah Beach
[edit]British forces at Utah Beach included six Royal Navy ships: Erebus, Hawkins, Black Prince, Enterprise, Hotham, and Tyler (Balkoski 2005, p. 344.). They were part of the bombardment group that shelled the area from offshore. Also, British planes flew sorties starting around midnight, and RAF Handley Page Halifax bombers were used to tow Horsa gliders to Utah (Beevor page 51).
