When you plan to make a major edit to an article, it is a good idea to open a discussion on the Talk page presenting your plan and asking if others who follow the article have any objections. I note that adding a great deal of historical detail to articles about works of fiction may be overkill, and probably would be more appropriate in the historical, architectural, or geographical articles. We often can rely on simple wikilinks to those other articles in the article of fiction. See also our WP:MOS, including MOS:OVERLINK and MOS:WEASEL. For example, do not link dates, country names, etc. If you start out by making modest changes, you will be able to guage how other editors view them.
