Please revert your edit on Airbus A340. Per your edit here, there is no concensus saying so. It is not planespotters. I am aware that this is not Planespotters.net. There is consensus about airfleets.net. At WP:RSN, airfleets.net's reliability has been discussed multiple times, see this, and that said that the source is unreliable and shouldn't be used. Airfleets.net is also listed at WP:BADAIRSOURCE because of the same reason above. Kindly self-revert this edit of yours. Thanks. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 10:47, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No I won't. airfleets.net has been used as a source the last 15 years I remember on here and has now been placed in several articles instead of planespotters.net in the wake of recent discussions (not by me). We run out of sources for non-primary aircraft information since ch-aviation has become paid-access, hence some backup for the given content is better than none at all - thats why [better source needed] exists. 2001:A61:1209:4001:4C79:577B:6230:84B2 (talk) 10:52, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Airfleets.net is an unreliable source and is really not a reliable source. The reliability of the said source has already been determined as unreliable. As it is an unreliable source, I am well allowed to remove the citation, especially if unreliable. Per WP:CHALLENGE, "any material lacking an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the material may be removed and should not be restored without an inline citation to a reliable source." On Wikipedia, we don't get to use substandard sources just because otherwise we would "run out of sources" - we stick to what we can source to WP:Reliable sources, and if necessary, accept reduced or less up to date content to fit the available sources. Note that there reliable sources that cover airline fleets, (either online or in print), someone just needs to pay for them and accept that they are only likely to by updated annually.Nigel Ish (talk) 11:59, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
