Yes, an opinion supported by reliable sources. That's how we write articles. For example, our article on 4chan says: "The site has been described as a hub of Internet subculture, its community being influential in the formation and popularization of prominent Internet memes, such as lolcats, Rickrolling, rage comics, wojaks, Pepe the Frog, as well as hacktivist and political movements, such as Anonymous and the alt-right."

So, it's not really clear what you are objecting to with the wording. I'll restore the previous wording unless you have some further input. I'll wait a day or two for you to respond first.
