I appreciate the input and didn't want to revert anything you did, however, I do request that in the section on "new persecutions" and the use of the term "play" that you go back and revert yourself. It's incorrect, legally. Before this era, in any legal proceeding, the accused had the right to see and confront their accuser--and there had to be one in order to bring someone into court. After this, the state could legally be the victim, and a person could be charged and have no one they could compensate or make amends to, as they could before. That's part of how the authorities consolidated power--giving it all to the state. That's the way it still is--if you decline to prosecute someone for something they did to you, the state can go around you and prosecute them anyway. This is when that first started. That's not playing, and besides, that's a loaded word in this usage. It's not NPOV. Please fix that if you would.

This article is so long, I have worked really hard to shorten it wherever I could by taking out extra words that are mostly padding and stylistic. Some of the changes you made clarified points, and corrected a couple of errors, but some were padding for style. Please don't add more of that! This article doesn't need padding--however--if you can take ten words and say the same thing in three, you are golden in this article! :-) Do that everywhere you can!

Nevermind, I went and rewrote the whole section basically to better reflect how the entire society was shifting. Thanx for your input, it prompted me to do that work and it needed it.
