[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Cryptonomicon, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Mentioning the character and their actions in the text might be okay, but going into their personality traits is interpretive. DonIago (talk) 14:48, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- I thought OR referred to speculation on character personalties before so that is part of why I never adressed this. I am confused and frusturated about how OR for other media appearences of various characters and entries to list of characters have never needed to be sourced before yet are being treated as bad entries whenever I do it. 69.145.109.114 (talk) 15:03, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- I will work to avoid interpertive personality comments in the future. 69.145.109.114 (talk) 15:03, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! The new text looks good to me. Basically, unless sources are provided, articles should never be delving into character traits that aren't explicit in the "text". Unfortunately there's a lot of articles where that's been ignored. DonIago (talk) 15:35, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
