- If you really are an innocent bystander affected by a block caused by someone else, no fault of your own, then I know what it's like, because many years ago it happened to me. However, unfortunately a small proportion of people who edit Wikipedia persist in editing in very unconstructive ways, and if we didn't take steps to prevent them from doing so then the combined effect of the harm they would do would be extremely damaging. When I was affected by an IP block, I got an account, and have never again been affected by a block, and I suggest you do the same. If you can't create an account yourself then you can go to Wikipedia:Request an account to ask for one. Unfortunately I believe that there can be quite a long wait for that to happen, but it's the best that can be offered in the face of the actions of the few selfish people who choose to make these blocks necessary by keeping up their destructive editing for long periods. This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
