"Edging"

[edit]

Hi there! Personally, I agree with your edits and would like to see those charts listed in the table. However, according to Wikipedia:Record charts#Song charts, we are only supposed to list the Alternative Airplay and Mainstream Rock charts in the tables if the song in question has not charted on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs nor Rock Airplay, and "Edging" appeared on both of those latter two charts. That being said, there is nothing wrong with mentioning Alternative Airplay and/or Mainstream Rock performance in the prose of the article, though this is already covered in the commercial performance section. Also, quoting from a note at the bottom of the table provided in the first link in this message: "Genre-specific digital song sales and streaming songs charts should not be included unless a song did not chart on the respective all-genre Digital Song Sales or Streaming Songs charts and the genre's "hot" chart." (emphasis original) Because "Edging" charted on the "hot" chart for its genre, the Rock Digital Songs position should not be listed in the table. Ah, I'm a little embarrassed to note that I've just seen you added the overall Digital Songs chart in one of your edits instead of the genre-specific version of that chart; however, Digital Songs should still be absent from the table, since "Edging" charted on the Billboard Hot 100. --Dylan620 (he/him · talk · edits) 16:15, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, my intent is just to let you know that the songs have entered as many charts as possible. Alternative, Mainstream or Digital. Wikipedia's goal is to let people know everything they need. 87.8.108.127 (talk) 20:29, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Adding in those charts is a violation of the guideline on record charts, though, as I already explained above. :/ I need to ask you to revert your edit. --Dylan620 (he/him · talk · edits) 01:56, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the sentiment - I dont particularly like the guideline myself - but you can't just ignore the guidelines like this, or you'll just keep getting locked out of editing articles. Sergecross73 msg me 21:50, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
