Warning icon Please refrain from hijacking pages as you did with Dessewffy. Should you believe the subject you were writing about deserves an article, please use the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version that you can then get feedback on. Also see Wikipedia's disambiguation guideline which indicates how to handle separate subjects with similar names. If you continue to hijack an existing article, you may be blocked from editing. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. —Bruce1eetalk 14:59, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to Weyher family does not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! Peaceray (talk) 19:51, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

About houses & the lead sentence

[edit]

Hi! So what you probably did not know is there is a pretty strong sentiment in Wikipedia:WikiProject Royalty and Nobility that houses refer to royal houses, not families of nobility. This is not spelled out at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (royalty and nobility), but it has led to the renaming of articles about noble families, such as the renaming of the House of Visconti to Visconti of Milan.

Personally, this does not matter a lot to me. What does matter is the MOS:LEADSENTENCE guideline, which states If possible, the page title should be the subject of the first sentence. By changing titles like Visconti of Milan to House of Milan when the name of the article is Visconti of Milan, you have violated this guideline.

You make plenty of good edits. Play by the policies & guidelines & you will be fine. BTW, it really helps to leave an edit summary. Peaceray (talk) 03:04, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
