CNN Senate election predictions
[edit]May I ask why you are removing CNN from US Senate election predictions? It would be helpful if you would provide an edit summary when you edit articles. Cheers, SVTCobra 22:09, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
This is because of the cited article itself doesn't show the CNN ratings and there's no evidence that CNN posted any ratings for the 2022 senate elections. Seems to me that the ratings are made up. For example, the said article states PA as the most likely to flip (i.e from red to blue) so why was it rated as 'Tilt R'. So unless CNN releases ratings for this cycle edits without evidence shouldn't be made.

- Well, I am not sure what you mean by "ratings" in this context. Do you mean "predictions"? I do see the link is mainly a video link which displays an unrelated video. Was there a single user adding these links before you removed them? SVTCobra 10:10, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
- A few comments.
- I saw all these as well and almost reverted them given the editor summary.
- At least as of the July article (https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/09/politics/senate-race-rankings-july-elections/index.html) it appears that CNN is using Rothenberg's Inside Elections, see the map about one page down before the 1-10 listing.)
- Inside Elections *is* in the table, but some of the states aren't updated (or at least their date isn't ,Pennsylvania for example)
- So my suggestion is to support the removal of CNN, and update the values of Inside Elections in the wikipedia pages to either that of the CNN page or that of the Inside Election page at https://insideelections.com/ratings/senate (And feel free to add a <!--"and also CNN"--> to the Inside elections entryNaraht (talk) 13:58, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

@SVTCobra, I definitely agree with your judgement. Because these are not CNN predictions or ratings (whatever you call them) rather CNN used Inside Elections' ratings as a reference. Aficionado538 (talk) 14:55, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
- If these are not CNN’s predictions, then removing that page sounds necessary, so we all seem to be on the same page i see Squidward214558 (talk) 20:15, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
@Naraht I don't think it's okay to add "and also CNN". Because these aren't CNN'S predictions. I think updating Inside Elections'dates for PA will be reasonable. Aficionado538 (talk) 15:04, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
- Aficionado538 The "and also CNN" invisible comment is mostly so other people don't add them back in. Maybe "and used by CNN"? And that's a relatively minor point. :)Naraht (talk) 17:59, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, i see these were inside election’s predictions, makes sense to remove CNN Squidward214558 (talk) 20:10, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
- At least we've reached an agreement. Thanks for the discussion all.
- Have a good day! Aficionado538 (talk) 20:40, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
