ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Scale of justice 2.svgHello, AlasdairEdits. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed your Tone tag at Edward O. Thorp. I do see a bit of puffery. Before I work on the article, I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Can you tell me your concerns? O3000 (talk) 14:46, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

It just sounded all very wrong tone. Guy probably has done some impressive things but the tone is wrong. A lot of the sources are primary sources and the language is very puffy. Compare the claim he "collaborated with Claude Shannon in creating the first wearable computer.@ With the more complex situation and language described in the article it links toAlasdairEdits (talk) 21:16, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi, The email address on this account was out of date and no-longer valid. If you still wish to talk with me either leave me a message here or email again to the updated address, thanks AlasdairEdits (talk) 12:51, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
You can find the relevant information here: and a related form in another community here: or even here where he is still actively hiring "marketing assitants" possibly I could have included it in the AFD discussion, but I was more agreeing with other people in the discussion which in any event closed fairly uncontroversially.
