Cinema of Turkey
[edit]Hi. I removed the section you added on Cinema of Turkey as it appeared to be original research. You appear to know a lot about the subject, but Wikipedia is not a place for you to published new material. If you can add references and cites to your text that would be great. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:06, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh hello. Well, it is original in the sense that I wrote it. Most of the things I added are from my own reseach on the topic. I am into the subject since 1995. Could you give me an idea on how i should go about it? I mean what shall I do? And were are the parts I wrote until now? Are they all trash now?? :) Ego sum cui sum 15:25, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. You can always retrieve your past work. Wikipedia is good like that, you can always see past edits using the history tab at the top of the page. Click here to see the last version of your text. If you want to add your own research you should do so by adding cites to where it has been published previously. Click here to see how to add references. You should also probably mention on the discussion page that this is your own published research, just so that everyone knows and you can't be accused of hiding a conflict of interest. I'm sure with your knowledge you can contribute a lot to this page, but if you don't cite it properly it is likely to be removed by others. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:57, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi, i just want to apologize, I think I got a bit upset by the idea that all my efforts were lost, so I was a bit rude and even dared to call you someone with a pair of scissors... Sorry for that. Most probably it's just that I haven't yet realized the difference between reading the wikipedia and writing for it. Entirely different things as it turns out to be :) Ego sum cui sum 16:11, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. I was maybe a bit premature with my edit, but I thought you had finished and had moved on. You're right, it does take a bit of a shift in thinking between merely reading and actually writing Wikipedia. And it can be frustrating when you think you've contributed valuable information that gets edited because it doesn't follow the rules, particularly when you can see so many examples of bad contributions elsewhere. You just have to rise above it and resolve to set your standards higher so that no-one can question them :) --Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:37, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Tarkan
[edit]If you want another page you'll have to call it something like "Tarkan (Turkish films)". That's how most name clashes are handled. But it depends on how famous the films are compared to the pop-star. If you think the films are more famous than the pop-star you could suggest that the pop-star's page gets moved to "Tarkan (singer)" or something like that, and your film page takes "Tarkan". But that's a lot of bother, as all the links to the pop-star page will have to be edited as well.
If you decide to use "Tarkan (Turkish films)" then you might want to use a "other use" template at the top of the pop-star's page. Like this;
- {{otheruses4|the Turkish pop-star|the Turkish Films|Tarkan (Turkish films)}}
This will display on the page like;
- This article is about the Turkish pop-star. For the Turkish Films, see Tarkan (Turkish films).
And, of course, you do the reverse on your film page. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 22:03, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
