Information icon Hello, I'm Shawn in Montreal. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Arthur Lipsett because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Arthur Lipsett with this edit. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links may include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.  Velella  Velella Talk   20:16, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Arthur Lipsett, and I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Ameliadoes", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. In particular it appears that an Amelia Does has written a biography of Arthur Lipsett which you are promoting though that article. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.  Velella  Velella Talk   20:18, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Arthur Lipsett, you may be blocked from editing. May I suggest adding your work simply as an External link, for now. Also, can you provide links to books reviews about your biography of Lipsett that might satisfy our notabilty requirements? Consulting producer on Remembering Arthur

[edit]

Ms. Does was a consulting producer on one of the Lipset biodocs, per IMDb. My concern is that may be blocked from adding useful content because of her refusal to heed warnings. Amelia, please do not be hasty and continue to ignore warnings. I do believe your book could be a useful addition -- but why do you insist it do at the head of the section, above better known films on the subject? Has this book received any professional reviews? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 20:26, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Arthur Lipsett, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. I'm trying to help you. Yet you persist in ignoring warnings. I will try to add your work, but at the same time, believe you should be blocked as a disruptive editor, which is a shame. Your request to email me or speak by phone

[edit]

Ms. Does, it doesn't work that way, sorry. I am not a Wikipedia editor who communicates by email, and we can discuss matters here. Please see my latest attempt to include your work in the article. It is not my decision alone to make, of course, this is a collaborative project: but I realize the importance of what you are trying to add. It's just that you are unfamiliar with our policies against self-promotion or original research. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 20:40, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I just added a reliable source about you, Claude Fournier's piece in Canoe.ca. I hope this will resolve concerns. I also hope you'll take some time to read some of our guidelines if you wish to contribute further. thanks, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 20:49, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
