Govindudu Andarivadele[edit]

Hi. Long time! Hope you are doing well. The last time when we spoke to each other was about conducting the GAR of this article. After you cited lack of time, i rewrote it partially, got it c/ed by GOCE and updated it completely. It was nominated on 15 December 2014 and once, a vandal created the GAR page with very short content because of which it was deleted. At this stage, after waiting for months, i believe that you would either review the article soon or leave it for once and all, as i remember you saying that this article was in your mind. Please do confirm you intentions soon. Thank you. Hoping a positive response, Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:07, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

I've seen that you are active since two days i posted this message and no reply till now. Hence i assume that you are not at all interested to take up a GAR of this article as you promised to do so. Sorry for troubling you. Regards, Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:50, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
@Pavanjandhyala: I may not be able to spare time for a GA, I am very less active and studying two university courses along with work in real life. --AmritasyaPutraT 03:51, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Name[edit]

That's Polish name, original name of the defence company. English name is a translated form. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.70.126.226 (talk) 08:05, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

Okay, I will not revert again, you may mention in edit summary too. Since a valid English name was replaced with an apparent gibberish I had reverted. --AmritasyaPutraT 08:36, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

Sanskrit copyedit[edit]

Hi there, I've been working on your copyediting request for the Sanskrit page. I'm not quite done yet, but I've run across a few issues that I've commented on in the talk page there; notably, the possibility of separating more clearly "historical" information from "modern usage," and a request for more information for the Phonology section (I think it should include a list of the language's phonemes). The work you've done on this page is great, and I'll keep working on the copyedit. In the meantime, if you could find some time to look into these things I'd appreciate it! — 2macia22 (talk) 04:56, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Oh, sure! Thank you so much! I am traveling soon and will not get back to a desktop until the coming Wednesday, Shreevatsa can help with the suggestions. --AmritasyaPutraT 05:11, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Arbitration Case[edit]

The arbitration case Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/OccultZone_and_Others has been opened. For the arbitration committee, Robert McClenon (talk) 17:45, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

You were recently listed as a party to a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/OccultZone and others. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/OccultZone and others/Evidence. Please add your evidence by May 15, 2015, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/OccultZone and others/Workshop. Request to take a look at User talk:Vectorgraphics[edit]

Sequence of events :

A. I create page named " Became predominantly Muslim due to missionary Sufi saints whose dargahs dot the landscape"

B. Speedy deletion notation served to the article

C. My response :

This article should not be speedy deleted as lacking sufficient context to identify its subject, because :

(1. Hi, I have been reading on Wikipedia for the past 8-10 years. I was going through history articles in the north west of subcontinent. I found this line on so many pages :

"...became predominantly Muslim due to missionary Sufi saints whose dargahs dot the landscape..."

2. When I searched in Wikipedia the exact phrase, I got more than a 100 hits. Also, as far as I know, no articles references the phrase. It is being treated as some sort of truth which does not require any verification. And this on a very sensitive topic in a region where (re)writing history is a big thing!.

3. Then I thought, I will check on Google. There I found more than 300000 hits of the exact same line on (besides Wikipedia itself! ) social media sites, blogs, tourism sites, and others. Of course, a huge majority of these might have themselves taken the phrase from Wikipedia itself!

4. Then I checked on Google Scholar the same phrase. There were 143 hits. However, I could not find any references to the same in the ones I checked.

5. So what has happened is that there is a cyclical reinforcement of (mis)information where the phrase comes unreferenced in one of the Wiki pages, and from there, it got copied into so many other pages and possibly then into all those external web pages.

6. Also, lets suppose there was some way that this line could be referenced. Then, I don't know of any other such long unreferenced phrase(s) which is/are present in more than 100 articles word by word!. I want to report abuse of WP:NPOV here, but I don't know against whom to. Also, another point to note is that this phrase is not present in any Islam\Muslims related article in India or Bangladesh or Afghanistan except for one.

7. ALso, I would like this to become a proper page and I am open to help and suggestions.

Thanks.

D. one notification + article deleted

E. My response :

@RHaworth and Huon:

Hi, Instead of deleting the page, could we edit the contents and\or the topic to make it more readable? I wanted to bring to the notice of a large number of users one of the existing discrepancies. If it were a light topic, I wouldn't even have put in the effort to create a page and then link it to 100 other pages. But the topic at hand is quite serious. Please do remember, the general user who reads this stuff mostly believes it to be true and even though its "spam" caught in a loop of unverifiablity as explained by @Huon:, seeing the same phrase on so many pages makes the user believe it must be true !

Also, I actually wanted to create an article/category or something where more general users can bring to the notice other such stuff (large unreferenced phrase in use in so many pages). Then, the above deleted page could become just one of the entries in that page.

I would also like to know if there is/are some action taken to remove/edit/verify the phrase I brought your notice to.

Thanks.

2015 GA Cup[edit]

WikiProject Good Articles's 2015 GA Cup
Symbol support vote.svg

Greetings, all!

We would like to announce the start of the 2nd GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Our inaugural competition, which ran from October 2014 to April 2015, was such a resounding success that we'd like to do it again. Currently, there are over 500 GANs ready to be reviewed; competitors in the previous GA Cup reviewed about 570 GAs, so we can again make a huge impact in helping editors improve articles in Wikipedia and decrease the traditionally long queue at GAN.

The 2nd GA Cup will begin on July 1, 2015. As last time, five rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on November 28, 2015), but this may change based on participant numbers. The judges learned a lot during the 1st GA Cup which exposed weaknesses in its system. Using both the feedback from last year's participants and the weaknesses discovered, we've revised the scoring system to make it more fair. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same.

We also are introducing three new judges: 3family6, Jaguar and MrWooHoo. So in total, there will be six judges. We hope this will allow the competition to run more smoothly.

Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on July 15, 2015. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges.

Cheers from 3family6, Dom497, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar and MrWooHoo, and TheQ Editor.

Proposed deletion of Ganapati Muni[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Ganapati Muni has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The page has no indication of notability; there are any number of religious leaders in south Asia, and the content does not demonstrate why this one deserves an article. The tone is also unencyclopedic.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Vanamonde93 (talk) 02:07, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Your e-mail[edit]

@AmritasyaPutra, you haven't even made an unblock request. And if your talk page access were revoked, which apparently it is not, your next step would be WP:UTRS. I'm certainly not going to take any action on my own.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:29, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

@Bbb23: Thanks, I was looking for direction for next possible step. I feel I cannot give the evidence I gave to you on my talk page hence I had mailed. --AmritasyaPutraT 05:50, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

Nomination of Ayyala somayajulu ganapathi sastry for deletion[edit]

2015 GA Cup - Round 2[edit]

WikiProject Good Articles's 2015 GA Cup - Round 2
Symbol support vote.svg

Greetings, GA Cup competitors!

Wednesday saw the end of Round 1. The Rambling Man, who was eliminated during the first round in our last competition, earned an impressive 513 points, reviewed twice as many articles (26) as any other competitor. It was a tight race for second for first-time competitors BenLinus1214 and Tomandjerry211, who finished second and third with 243 and 224 points, respectively. Close behind was Wugapodes, who earned 205 points.

The change in our points system had an impact on scoring. It was easier to earn higher points, although the key to success didn't change from last time, which was choosing articles with older nomination dates. For example, most of the articles The Rambling Man reviewed were worth 18 points in the nomination date category, and he benefited from it. BenLinus1214 reviewed the longest article, A Simple Plan (at 26,536 characters, or 4,477 words), the 1994 film starring Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton, and Bridget Fonda and directed by Sam Raimi, and earned all possible 5 points in that category.

After feedback from our participants, the judges slightly changed the rule about review length this time out. Shorter reviews are now allowed, as long as reviewers give nominators an opportunity to address their feedback. Shorter reviews are subject to the judges' discretion; the judges will continue their diligence as we continue the competition.

Despite having fewer contestants at the beginning of Round 1 than last time, 132 articles were reviewed, far more than the 117 articles that were reviewed in Round 1 of the inaugural GA Cup. All of us involved should be very proud of what we've accomplished thus far. The judges are certain that Round 2 will be just as successful.

16 contestants have moved onto Round 2 and have been randomly placed in 4 groups of 4, with the top 2 in each pool progressing to Round 3, as well as the top participant ("9th place") of all remaining competitors. Round 2 has already begun and will end on August 29 at 23:59:59 UTC. Information about Round 2 and the pools can be found here.

Good luck and remember to have fun!

Cheers from Dom497, Figureskatingfan, 3family6 and Jaguar, and MrWooHoo.

To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletter, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant still competing, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.
