Notes[edit]

Hi! I have some notes on your draft:

  • With writing, make sure that you stick to Wikipedia's style of writing. Some of this is a little casually written, so be careful with that. For example, the phrase 'depths of humanity' is very lyrical and poetic, but it's not really something that fits in with Wikipedia's more formal style. Phrases like 'passionate for' should definitely be avoided since those are seen as promotional on Wikipedia. Without going into the whole background of this, it's a phrase that's commonly used in marketing material, especially by people who came on to Wikipedia because they were hired to write about various people, businesses, and so on. As such, the term is not seen as neutral on Wikipedia.
  • Avoid using the term 'notable' or other subjective terms in the article. These will always be subjective to the reader, so the wording needs to be more subjective. Also make sure that you're not making an argument or or against notability or major-ness, as the article should just state the facts and leave it up to the reader to decide. The notable works section comes across as an argument as to why these particular pieces of art should be seen as notable. I'd recommend setting up the section more along the lines of how this is set up in the article for Rachel Whiteread, if possible. If not, it should be more straightforward.
  • For the historical influences section, this is something that I think should be paired up with the style section for one overall section on style and influences, as one will impact the other in most cases.
  • Be careful with quotes. You rely on them an awful lot in the article and while you can definitely use quotes, they should be used fairly sparingly and only when you can't really summarize the content in your own words or if using your own words would take away from the quote. If a quote is used, there needs to be some context to set it up.

A lot of this is stylistic and will just take some editing to better fit Wikipedia's style. You have a very good start here and the sourcing generally looks good at first glance - just make sure that you use enough independent, reliable sources since those will help show how the artist meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Errazuriz looks to be pretty notable so a lot of this is just kind of dotting the Is and crossing the Ts, so to speak.

For the notable works section, I'll give it a little bit of a re-write to show you an example of how to rephrase the content. The main thing to remember is that you have to be as neutral as possible. Don't worry if this seems a bit frustrating - it definitely was for me when I first started editing - it's something that comes with time, is all. I will do some general copyediting here and there, mostly to merge repeated citations or fix some general formatting. This was a great choice for you to expand - the main article for the artist needed some TLC! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:45, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh! Quick note - be careful of slang. Not all editors will be familiar with English slang, so just be cautious in this respect. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:46, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
