Historic Chinatown in Deadwood, South Dakota
[edit]Hi @Asiareid1,Djgonzophd Thanks for your contribution on creating the article on the Chinatown of Deadwood! I looked over it and have some feedback to improve the article.
Lead section: The lead section here is written like an introduction. What you want, instead, is just a short summary of the rest of the article: a mini-article. Your opening sentence should tell your readers, as directly as possible, what the topic is (Chinatown, not Deadwood). The rest of the lead should highlight all the major points of the overall article in a paragraph or two. The first sentence should go something like "Chinatown, Deadwood was a historic ethnic enclave in Deadwood, South Dakota.." Check out these articles on other Chinatown's like in San Francisco, Melbourne, and the main Chinatown article for an idea on what the lead section could be structured.
Deadwood: I think there's too much information on the city of Deadwood, when the focus is on the Chinatown. Readers can go to the Deadwood article to know more about it if they want, but the focus on this article should be about the Chinatown. I feel your article would be more concise and focused if information not related to the Chinatown was removed, and you added a link to the deadwood article at either the See also section or a
under the History of Deadwood section, keeping the history section short and as a summary.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about what I wrote above. Great job with creating this! Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 23:26, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
