AFDs

[edit]

Hello, Babysharkboss2,

If you want to participate in AFD deletion discussion, please give arguments that demonstrate you have studied the article being discussed and carefully reviewed the sources supplied, in the article and in the discussion. Don't just offer an opinion, offer an argument to support your view that is grounded in Wikipedia policy and guidelines. I'm not trying to discourage your participation, I just want you to take it more seriously. AFDs are not for every editor as it requires knowledge and time to contribute productively to the discussion. I know you can do it, just do so thoughtfully. Thanks. Liz Read! Unnecessary ping

[edit]

Hi, just a quick note that pinging admins in situations like this is generally unnecessary; usually when dealing with situations like this, the less attention we give them, the better. Thanks, Writ Keeper  15:42, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Discuss before deleting

[edit]

Hello, Babysharkboss2,

Today you deleted fully sourced and cited historical material concerning a racial atrocity that took place in Erwin, Tennessee in 1918. This is the fourth time since 2011 that mention of the event has been deleted from the History section of the town's article, either completely or in part. Full citations have also been deleted, with spurious reasons such as calling a College website source a "private website."

You gave no reason for your deletion.

The matter of these repeated deletions has been broached on the articles Talk page. Please present your reason for wanting to eliminate the history there rather than act in a vigilante manner. I will be reinstating the deleted and sourced material tomorrow, and if you wish to discuss it further, please do so on the Erwin Talk page. Deleting content

[edit]

Hi, you have been deleting sections of content because of what you say are 'shit references'. These references only relate to specific artists who performed at this event. Unfortunately they are the best source we have and I would argue it's better to have context via Discogs and Facebook, for example, than nothing at all. If you really object to an artist reference please can you justify that and only remove that specific reference and not the entire section if agreed. Thanks

Becuase they are shit sources. per WP:RSPFACEBOOK and WP:DISCOGS we mustn't use them. Babysharkboss2!! (Slap me with the fish. I dare you.) 12:03, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you object to a reference please just remove that. There is no justification for deleting an entire section. You are just applying a general recommendation here, which I agree in many cases is acceptable. However, how I can have a 'non shit' reference to an artist who has no other online references, given that many of these are small local artists from almost 20 years ago? Folkingman (talk) 13:04, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have restored the 06 event. If you insist on removing the references please do it on an individual basis. Thanks Folkingman (talk) 13:06, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
lease do it on an individual basis. Please expand on that. Babysharkboss2!! (Slap me with the fish. I dare you.) 13:08, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the references aren't even ABOUT the festival. We'd rather have: "Five Iron Frenzy plays [insert song here] and blows crowd away!" from CNN, then "Just went to the Five Iron Frenzy concert! [insert song] was crazy!" from some random dude on facebook. please read WP:RSP Babysharkboss2!! (Slap me with the fish. I dare you.) 13:07, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Of course they are about the festival - they are the artists that played! As I said these artists are not famous. They are NOT like Five Iron Frenzy - they do not have other online references. To clarify, if you still object strongly to a specific reference and you feel the article is improved by removing that valuable context, then you can delete that specific reference, but retain the artist name. Folkingman (talk) 13:36, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then there would be no point. References are still needed. Please read WP:RSP. If they aren't notable, don't include them, or don't shove unreliable sources into the article to add false notability. Babysharkboss2!! (Slap me with the fish. I dare you.) 13:38, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just because they are not famous doesn't mean that they are not notable in our community. This is a local community festival, not a major international event, and this is a document of it. All history is important. Please can you restore the section and delete those references you object to. Folkingman (talk) 13:42, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Its not a personal thing, its Wikipedia rules. Babysharkboss2!! (Slap me with the fish. I dare you.) 13:43, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've updated the section removing all the 'shit references' that I can detect. Those that remain are to genuine sites, so no Facebook, Discogs, Amazon etc. I'm just trying to document an event for prosperity, not get into a battle on Protocol. Folkingman (talk) 13:58, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
you literally included a facebook link Babysharkboss2!! (Trout me, pull the trigger.) 14:01, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Folkingman Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources is an article where it shows reliable and unreliable sources and the reason why. for example, Discogs is not reliable due to it being user generated! Babysharkboss2!! (Slap me with the fish. I dare you.) 13:40, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for not deleting this time and for removing the ones I missed. When I have time I will go back over preceding content and edit them out. Thanks for your help. Folkingman (talk) 14:04, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Louis Fratino page updated for notability

[edit]

Hi, I started a talk section on the Louis Fratino page. It includes the artist's historic inclusion in the 60th Venice Biennale. I've also added recent secondary source references from major publications on the artist. This includes The New York Times, Artforum, and The Financial Times. Can you help me out with next steps for removing the Notability flag? Would love to learn more about how one goes about doing this after adding reputable secondary source references as well major achievements in the "art world." Looking forward to learning more from you, thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peoplelikeyoulikeme (talkcontribs) 15:15, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked Users

[edit]

Thanks for your efforts to assist JLCSan. Unfortunately, the exchange that you're having with them right now is not getting them any closer to understanding our policies or what they have to do to get unblocked. They are probably not aware that they are not talking to an administrator. Posting on the talk pages of blocked users by non-admins is usually discouraged. ⇌ Jake Wartenberg 15:31, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Sorry. I was just trying to assist. I apologize. Babysharkboss2!! (Trout me, pull the trigger.) 15:34, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No apology needed! ⇌ Jake Wartenberg 15:42, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Babysharkboss2: Hi, by undoing my edit to the above article, you have caused the article to be grammatically incorrect and also returned hyperbole/incorrect information to the plot summary. For instance, they say a character dies when absolutely no mention of death is made in the film - in fact, the character in question BLINKS while stunned/unconscious before being revived. She is not killed. Also, there are sentences that are run-ons/have far too many subjects, followed by pronouns and general group words. When you do that, someone who hasn't seen the film might be confused which subject the pronouns or group word refer to (for instance, "Gang" in a sentence that refers to both the paw patrol and Vance's group. Far better to just clarify by name which group it is). There are 2 or 3 unregistered IPs who keep putting back the grammatically poor sentences in question and also putting back the thing about a character dying, which is totally incorrect. One of these IPs already has warnings for bad edits to a previous article. I can only assume it's either sock-puppets or one person using multiple devices, I think, but their edits ARE INCORRECT. Therefore they should not be returned to the article. EEBuchanan (talk) 19:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
