User talk:Bdude/Template:User AU res
Hello there. I am the one who changed the userbox picture to a map of Australia. I did so because that Userbox is for people who live in Australia who may or may not be Australians. That flag represents Australians, wherever they may be, not the continent. There is another userbox for Australians, viz. Template:User_Australian. Mgekelly - Talk 06:41, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
- User:Myrtone (the strict Australian wikipedian) seems to be intransigent on this issue. Rather than start an edit war, I'm bowing out, and drawing people's attention to Myrtone's comments on the issue. Mgekelly - Talk 13:03, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- OK, so I've put my version of the template in my own user space for anyone who would like to display that variant:
This user lives in Australia. |
"Someguy" also seems to be "intransigent" on this issue. Someguy is not an Australian wikipedian and possibly has never been to Australia or known any Australians. Someguy reverted to the map but I decided to create another template with the same text and a different picture but Someguy rejected that as an "uneccasessary fork" telling me that the function is "the same." As an Australian wikipedian I have got a bit upset with that. Someguy insisted that the only neccasesary fork would be, for example, one sigifying that they are Aboriginal, which I get touchy about because I am an Australian wikipedian, and Someguy is not, and possibly has nothing to do with Australia and Australians.Myrtone@User AU res.com.au:-(
